This publication is a report that discusses the management and support of relief workers and the quality and effectiveness of aid programs. The report argues that the rapid expansion of the relief industry has increased political and financial pressure to ensure efficiency and demands for improved accountability to beneficiaries and to donors. The two main recommendations of the report are that a general code of practice endorsed by all agencies is needed as well as the implementation of a professional body or association to oversee relief workers well-being and management.
