This issue of the African Journal on Conflict Resolution (AJCR) explores approaches to conflict resolution and mitigation, and discusses the roots of conflict in selected African countries. It considers conflict dynamics in Somalia, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Zimbabwe. It also surveys issues of cultural and ethnic identity in Africa and assesses the effectiveness of Ethiopia's federal arrangement.
