This paper provides an overview of the African Union's (AU) Continental Early Warning System (CEWS) against threats to regional peace and security. It furnishes a brief history of the development of CEWS and discusses essential characteristics. The conclusion offers some thoughts on the challenges that lie ahead and the way forward.
