This paper examines the effects of a housing crises on the business cycle based on historical crises. The authors use historical data to relate the historical experience to recent developments in the US, the UK, Spain and France. Further, they estimate the international spillover effects on other countries if several huge industrial countries face a housing crisis simultaneously.
