This report draws on a series of interviews and global consultations in order to re-examine the role of the UN Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) so that UNAIDS can most effectively contribute to the global response to HIV and AIDS. It examines key roles for UNAIDS and offers recommendations for the secretariat's executive director and the board.
