This report explores the impact of HIV and AIDS on the South African Police Services (SAPS) in Johannesburg. It begins with an overview of the impact of HIV/AIDS on SAPS and police organizations internationally. The author discusses risk factors associated with police work, such as occupational exposure, lifestyle factors and the attitudes of police officials. He examines the impact of SAPS policy on people living with HIV/AIDS and evaluates its 2000-2005 HIV and AIDS strategy and implementation. The report concludes by identifying areas that require attention and offers recommendations.
