This report explores the rehabilitation of former combatants in post-conflict South Africa using interviews and workshop results. It first looks at the extent and nature of former combatants’ involvement in criminal activities. It then examines the motivations and means for criminality among former combatants and the initiatives to address this problem. The author finally looks at the extent and nature of former combatants’ involvement in crime prevention activities.
