This report examines the nature of violence and violent crime in South Africa, as part of a project for the Department of Safety and Security. It discusses the Sexual Offenses Bill and acquaintance violence as well as the social determinants of violent crime. It details definitions of assault types and crimes under South African law and raises questions about justice and legal framework protections. The report concludes with recommendations for governments to address violent crime, emphasizing the need to strengthen criminal justice systems.
