This report examines the trajectory of conflict in Shobashobane, KwaMashu and Mtubatu in South Africa. It explores violent and peaceful periods from the early 1980s and discusses the efforts to address them. The author uses the case studies to examine post-conflict initiatives, the inclusion of development policies and evaluates the extent to which peacebuilding has occurred. The report focuses on various initiatives since 1996 as part of the KwaZulu-Natal Peace Process.
