This paper outlines discussion and results from a seminar held to understand the causes of violence against foreigners in South Africa. It highlights research and interventions in migration, integration, xenophobia, violence and trauma. The paper outlines key areas for understanding the causes of the violence in South Africa as well as appropriate responses and future recommendations.
