This paper provides a brief background on the electoral democracy of Botswana, showing early warning signs of the regress of democracy in the country. It argues that although there have been a number of positive developments regarding electoral democracy in Botswana, much needs to be done particularly in the area of electoral reform. The paper outlines major developments in the country and the political dynamics obtained on the ground with specific emphasis on the following electoral processes: constitutional reforms, electoral reforms, human rights and Basarwa people and economy and service delivery.
