This report explores the implementation of a 2006 ceasefire in Burundi. It begins with an overview of the political landscape, the role of Tanzania, and the ceasefire agreement of September 2006. The author discusses political power as a major obstacle to the implementation of peace and highlights ways of 'unblocking' the peace process. The report concludes with an overview of the regional Magaliesberg meeting held in South Africa and its future implications.
