This paper discusses the potential impact of emerging ammunition technologies on the design, production, and employment of firearms. The text’s author particularly worries that the introduction of a general-purpose munitions caliber and improvements in cartridge case technology will 1) reduce the cost of conventional ammunition, and 2) raise a new set of proliferation concerns.
