This paper examines whether Myanmar’s condemnation of North Korea’s January 2016 nuclear test symbolizes a change in their relationship. In exploring this possibility, the text’s author assesses 1) the history of the two countries’ relations; and 2) the challenges Naypyidaw faces in implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540 (2004). One thing is certain, however – the allegations about Myanmar pursuing a nuclear program are groundless.
