This paper explores the uncertain political future of post-ISIS Iraq. Given the probability that the so-called Islamic State’s defeat will lead to new conflicts between armed interest groups struggling for power, the text’s author urges the US to formulate and coordinate a long-term strategy that will ensure Iraq’s future political stability.
