The two articles in this edition of the RAD focus on the relative health of the Russian media. The first piece considers how and why the Kremlin continues to allow a number of independent, small-scale and niche-centered publications to operate, despite its wider crackdown on the country's media. The second article then explores how the Putin administration makes sure media outlets toe a pro-Kremlin line without overtly coercing them. Finally, the edition provides a collection of reports and polls on the consumption, quality and trustworthiness of media reporting in Russia.
