This article looks at 1) the climate-related problems Hong Kong may soon face, and 2) how the megacity’s ability to deal with them might be shaped by its Special Administrative Region (SAR) status within Chine. That status, it should be remembered, runs out in 2047 and may raise enough investor doubts about the SAR’s status that its ability to adapt to climate disruptions may be seriously impaired.
