This article reviews how Georgia and the breakaway region of Abkhazia were affected by the 2015-2016 diplomatic fallout between Russia and Turkey. The text’s authors ultimately conclude that 1) the crisis seriously stressed Abkhazia’s ties with its Turkish Abkhaz diaspora, which is an important economic and societal actor in its region; and 2) that in the case of Georgia, the influence of Turkish-Russian relations have been less important, although they could conceivably impact the country’s Euro-Atlantic integration process.
