This paper unpacks the military force postures of France, Germany, Italy, Russia, the United Kingdom and United States, which together represent over 85% of the military expenditures of OSCE States. The categories used to conduct the analysis include 1) military expenditures; 2) personnel strengths; 3) the types and quantity of weapons available; 4) force readiness levels; 5) the types and scale of ongoing military exercise programs; and 6) the number and scope of deployments abroad.
