This paper examines the efforts to establish sustainable stockpile management practices in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), specifically by focusing on EUFOR’s Mobile Training Team (MTT). According to the paper’s authors, MTT operations emphasize two key elements: 1) establishing sustainable weapons and ammunition life-cycle management (LCM) systems, which reduce the risk of unplanned explosions, illicit weapons transfers, and the degradation or self-ignition of ammunition, and 2) building the capacities needed to ensure physical security and effective stockpile management (PSSM) within the armed forces. The authors further argue that the success of the MTT Project in BiH should encourage the integration of similar PSSM and LCM activities in other post-conflict settings.
