This text examines the responses of Northern European countries to the recent influx of refugees they’ve had to deal with. While Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden have all tightened their national asylum policies and reinstated border controls, they also remain divided over the formation of a joint EU migration policy. Despite their differences, however, the paper’s author contends that the problem has raised broader awareness about the need to improve regional cooperation on migration and integration policies.
