This paper discusses the potential regional and national implications of Moldova’s upcoming presidential election. The anticipated victory of pro-Russian socialist candidate Igor Dodon will not only alter the country’s relations with the EU, it will also pose a direct challenge to Brussels’ own Eastern Policy, which relies heavily on the expansion of pro-EU sentiments in Moldova.
