This paper argues that internal developments in Russia and Donald Trump’s electoral victory in the US will strengthen Vladimir Putin’s political fortunes at home. Indeed, the mass overhaul and reassignment of key political positions within the Russian government has drastically improved Putin’s internal political power, while growing populism in the West has enhanced his strength internationally.
