How accurate is the international print media’s depiction of jihadi radicalization and the foreign fighter phenomenon? In this text, Rita Augestad Knudsen analyzes the reporting that’s been done on Kosovo, a country which has been characterized as a “hotbed for radical Islamists” and a “pipeline for Jihadists.” Unsurprisingly, Knudsen uncovers numerous inconsistencies in the media coverage of these phenomena, including the number of foreign fighters from Kosovo, the reasons for their radicalization and more.
