This text prognosticates on the future relationship between NATO and Ukraine, particularly in the wake of the decisions made at the 2016 Warsaw Summit. At that meeting, the Alliance adopted a comprehensive assistance package for Ukraine that stresses 1) improved demining and explosive ordnance disposal capabilities, and 2) further defense and security sector reforms. However, as the text’s author sees it, NATO and the EU should additionally offer financial assistance to improve Ukraine’s border security.
