This commentary examines the continued impediments to conflict resolution in Syria, which certainly include Sunni disenfranchisement. The text specifically analyzes 1) the roles Russia, cross-sectarianism, radical narratives and external Sunni players are playing in thwarting the creation of a viable peace process, and 2) the potential strategies European actors might adopt to facilitate further dialogue in Syria.
