This paper explores the possibility of creating a Weapons of Mass Destruction Free Zone (WMDFZ) in the Middle East. The text’s author specifically 1) takes stock of the progress which has already been made towards creating this zone; 2) explains the invigorating effects which the 2011 Arab Spring has had on the WMDFZ project; 3) discusses the technical challenges of such an initiative; and 4) suggests “next steps” that should be taken.
