This issue of the SUR Journal features articles on the impact of weapons on human rights. Some of the topics covered include 1) the politics behind international arms control negotiations and decisions; 2) the significance of small arms and explosive weapons from a human rights perspective; 3) the role police technology and weapons can play in human rights violations; and 4) the political, technological and moral battles being waged over weapon systems creation and controls. The issue also includes an interview with Maryam al-Khawaja on the crowd control weapons used by the Bahraini government against protesters.
