This brief explores how the Trump administration might help stymie kleptocratic corruption in Nigeria and South Africa. Following a brief introduction to the roots and practices of such thievery in both states, the text’s author recommends three courses of action for the US government – 1) establish an official National Security Council working group to deal with this problem; 2) revoke the visas of corrupt Nigerians and South Africans; and 3) encourage African governments to enforce previously agreed upon pan-African anticorruption protocols.
