This Fact Sheet presents global trends in arms exports and arms imports, based on SIPRI’s Arms Transfer Database. Key insights include that 1) the volume of international transfers of major arms in 2015–19 was 5.5 percent higher than in 2010–14 and 20 percent higher than in 2005–2009; 2) the five largest arms exporters in 2015–19 were the US, Russia, France, Germany and China; and 3) the five largest arms importers for the same period were Saudi Arabia, India, Egypt, Australia and China.
