This paper looks at the EU’s international profile and the extent it aligns with the Union’s global strategy as well as the volume, nature and geographical allocation of its external projection. More specifically, the texts authors address 1) the gap between the EU’s global presence and its level of international power; 2) the nature of the EU’s global presence, referring to hard, soft, technological and other forms of power; 3) the domestic factors involved in the EU’s global presence; and 4) the EU’s presence in relations to different geographical areas.
