In late 2016, the UN started to work on a treaty that will ban all nuclear weapons. Then, on 22 May 2017, the head of the conference laboring on this issue presented a first draft of the proposed treaty. Suffice it to say that this text's author isn’t impressed. The multi-stakeholder draft has all the loopholes one would expect and doesn’t take into account the existence of non-state entities that could end up holding a trump card in a nuclear disarmed world.
