This paper takes stock of North Korea's nuclear weapons program from 2006 to 2016. It specifically concentrates on 1) the initial motives behind Pyongyang’s expanded nuclear weapons program; 2) the evolution of North Korea's seeming nuclear policy over the decade; 3) how the US has responded to the country's invigorated quest for The Bomb; and 4) what Pyongyang’s "sprint" to gain a nuclear deterrent will ideally enable it to achieve.
