The Open Society Foundations collectively work together to build vibrant and tolerant societies whose governments are accountable and open to the participation of all people. In particular, the foundations work to strengthen the rule of law; to enhance respect for human rights, minorities, and a diversity of opinions; to promote democratically elected governments; and to help create civil societies that keep government power in check.
