ETH Workshop: World Politics in 2015

27 March 2015

The editors and authors of Strategic Trends 2015 presented the sixth edition of this annual publication of the CSS in the course of the event “Weltpolitische Lage”. In the first panel, the five chapters of the booklet were presented: “The middle east’s thirty years’ war?”, “Putin’s Russia: exploiting the weaknesses of liberal Europe”, “Resurgent radicalism”, “Militarized competition in outer space” and “The normalization of cyber-international relations”. In the second panel, the parliamentarians Alexander Kuprecht and Roland Fischer, as well as Ambassador Christian Catrina of the Swiss Ministry of Defense and Eric Gujer, editor-in-chief of the “Neue Zürcher Zeitung”, discussed possible implications of these international trends for Switzerland. The panelists agreed in particular on the fact that Putin’s Russia generated a need for adjustment in regard to Swiss security policy.
