The Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zürich hosted an online event for the launch of a joint report “Redesigning Nuclear Arms Control for New Realities” on Wednesday 1 December. The event was recorded. You can watch it with the link provided below.

The report, available here, provides an assessment of the current state of the nuclear arms control landscape. Its authors outline building blocks and guidelines for a transatlantic political strategy for nuclear arms control that is adapted to today’s security and geopolitical environment. It is the result of discussions held by a transatlantic working group convened by the CSS between October 2020 and August 2021.

Three of the report’s authors – Dr. Anna Péczeli, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Center for Global Security Research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory; Dr. Brad Roberts, Director of the Center for Global Security Research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory; and Sir Adam Thomson, Director of the European Leadership Network – presented key takeaways before engaging in a discussion on the value of a transatlantic approach to nuclear arms control and its prospects in the near future. Dr. Oliver Thränert, Head of Think Tank at the CSS, provided introductory remarks and Névine Schepers, Senior Researcher in the Swiss and Euro-Atlantic Security Team at the CSS and editor of the report, moderated the discussion.

You can watch the online event here.
