This paper offers an account of the institutional and deeper structural forces that have afforded economic neoliberalism its primacy in shaping globalization since the 1970s. It reviews the leading characteristics of globalization, summarizes the principles of economic neoliberal theory, and dissect the dynamics that have undergirded the pre-eminence of neoliberalist thought. The conclusion reflects on the prospects for economic neoliberal globalization and the challenges it faces.
