This paper explores the politics that are part of the creation and implementation of two agricultural microinsurance schemes in Tarija, a department in southern Bolivia. The author looks at the unfolding negotiations and contestations around the schemes and how these are affected by the diverging interests, norms and resources, as well as asymmetric power relations of the actors involved.
