This paper discusses the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) approach to development and how it can further the development agenda, including the debate on this issue beyond 2015. The authors contend that the key contribution that SSE can make for development is in the way it simultaneously fosters economic activity, social and environmental protection and socio-political empowerment in an integrated, holistic and balanced way.
