This paper argues that, as environmental degradation of ecosystems becomes a more important consideration in the post 2015 development agenda, effective measurement of progress made toward achieving the new development goals will require available and reliable data on environmental indicators. The author looks at the various challenges to measuring and evaluating such indicators. She then suggests what needs to be done to produce the type of internationally comparable and reliable environmental data that could be used in the post-2015 development agenda.
