This paper addresses the situation of the Armenian ethnic minority living in Georgia's southern province of Javakheti, focusing on possible implications of a Russian military base closure. The paper explores state and development of the Javakheti region since the end of the Soviet Union, outlines the potential for ethnic and economic conflict and discusses Armenian-Georgian relations. Subsequently, the paper examines geopolitical implications and looks at how Georgia's minority policy affects the Armenian minority.
