This paper describes what happened during the violent events in Kosovo from 17 to 19 March 2004 and analyzes backgrounds and implications. The paper points to the origins of the violence and summarizes the course of the events. It draws several conclusions, commenting on the politically motivated violence, lack of cooperation between Kosovar and international structures and the autonomy of the Kosovo Protection Corps. The paper suggests that the real target of the events was the presence of the international community.
