This paper discusses the results of the elections in Kosovo on 23 October 2004, analyzing the results, the implications for the Kosovo assembly and the future impact. The paper depicts the election results, outlines the course of the negotiations to form a coalition government and introduces the government's composition. Subsequently, the paper assesses what led to the formation of the coalition government, summarizes reactions and comments on the functioning of democracy in Kosovo and the status negotiations. The paper argues that there is an opportunity for the new government to take bold and progressive decisions.
