This paper examines the co-evolution of internet and interactive technologies that provide a new medium of representation in a virtual public sphere and the NGOs as actors with new organizational topographies in Eastern Europe. It explores how NGOs can be a source of organizational and technological innovation necessary for their societies’ continuous adaptability in a fast-changing global economy. The authors argue that NGOs can enhance their use of new technologies to go beyond their existing role of mitigating and voicing the social problems by exploring new organizational forms and functioning as sources of societal innovation.
