This paper analyzes the new form of contention represented by the global justice movement (GJM). It argues against the idea of the emergence of the "movement of movements" stating that it, in fact, overlooks the crucial impact of a number of domestic factors and overstates the idea of an emerging transnational civil society. It further argues that, the classic social movement agenda goes quite far in explaining transnational contention, although, it needs to be adapted to some extent and take into account supranational political opportunities in addition to national ones.
