This paper reviews the operation and status of the "Deed of Commitment for Adherence to a Total Ban on Anti-Personnel Mines" and Geneva Call's efforts to spread and support it among armed non-state actors (NSAs). It documents the progress accomplished in the time from 2000 to 2007, takes stock of the action taken, records the achievements and remaining challenges and highlights priority areas for future work. The paper concludes that 34 NSAs have signed the "Deed of Commitment" and complied by and large with its terms, refraining from using anti-personnel mines and cooperating in mine action.
