This paper focuses on different welfare policy areas in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The author discusses three types of welfare policies that are being implemented there: the set of policies meant to protect the welfare of weavers; the public distribution system, and the Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA) program. The paper describes each set of policies, with a focus on the politics of the policies. It concludes with suggestions for possible further research.
