This paper outlines important facts of male-female and national differences in the pattern of life events during adolescence, form puberty to marital union. It analyzes demographic and social demographic data and focuses on the pattern of certain core events to the transition to adulthood. For comparison purpose it takes into account the social status and age factor of six Asian countries: Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal and Taiwan. Finally, it considers events that may not be common during adulthood but are possible and have important implications. The study compares both within and between countries and between the sexes.
