This paper presents the results of a survey of public opinion conducted in 20 African countries in 2008. Repeated on a regular cycle, Afrobarometer surveys aim to collect data on the attitudes and behaviors of ordinary Africans in reforming polities and economies across the continent. This compendium reports simple descriptive statistics that summarize key public attitudes, both by country and for a mean of all surveyed countries.
