This paper discusses the moral order among Hong Kong Chinese families with the help of the sociological theory by Durkheim. It also considers how Hong Kong Chinese families differ from the understanding of Durkheim’s family structure and moral order. The author discusses the construction of the moral order in Hong Kong as a sociological object in view of principles and theories presented by the sociologist Pierre Bourdieu.
